YIKE in partnership with the Domestic Workers and Waste Pickers Group, a CBO from Mathare, is implementing the Teen Mothers Empowerment & Support Program. The program improves the socioeconomic status and health outcomes of teen mothers in Mathare and other informal settlements within Nairobi.

  • GBV awareness training and counselling
  • GBV dialogues and community training
  • Sporting activities by teen mothers
  • Focus group discussions on drug abuse and GBV
  • Purchase and distribution of dignity kits
  • Football tournament to raise awareness on teenage pregnancies

Impact

730 people reached: football tournament (500), ward dialogues (30 per ward × 6 wards = 180), dignity kits distributed (15), focus group discussions (25 × 2 = 50).
