Since 2017, YIKE has worked to establish and reclaim green spaces in Nairobi, planting over 3,000 trees across green spaces in the city. The programme promotes peacebuilding and social cohesion while improving community health outcomes through awareness raising. Activities include tree planting campaigns, environmental conservation training, and peacebuilding activities targeting CBOs and youth groups along the Nairobi and Mathare Rivers. Youth are equipped with PPEs including overalls, gloves, and gumboots as well as tools. Health interventions include the vaccination of 210 youth against Hepatitis B (3 doses). The programme contributes to a clean, peaceful, and healthy environment for communities living along the riverbanks.
